Description
Saccharomyces Boulardii is a unique, non-pathogenic yeast, which is popular for use in supporting the digestive tract during travel abroad. Since it is proven to survive without refrigeration, it is ideal for carrying in a suitcase whilst travelling.
Unlike other friendly microorganisms, saccharomyces boulardii does not multiply (colonise) in the gut, and exerts its effects as it passes through the digestive tract. S. Boulardii has a sticky outer surface which can attract bacteria to its body so as it passes, it removes the bacteria with it.
Whilst it is a type of yeast itself, S. Boulardii releases caprylic acid as a survival mechanism against other yeast such as candida albicans.
