Description
Omega 3 is the name for the family of polyunsaturated essential fatty acids found most abundantly in fish. Fish oil is an ideal source of eicosapentaenoic (EPA) acid and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA).
Omega 3 helps support the brain, vision and heart. It is involved in the maintenance of normal blood pressure and cholesterol levels. Omega 3 is also important during pregnancy, since maternal intake of DHA contributes to normal brain and eye development of the foetus. DHA is also a key component of breast milk, to help support healthy brain development in infants.
For optimal health, there is an omega 6 to omega 3 ratio that should be adhered to. Omega 6 is generally more abundant in a typical western diet, and is considered to be pro-inflammatory when combined with low omega 3 status.
This Omega 3 Fish Oil supplement contains high quality omega 3 fatty acids, sourced sustainably from fish in zone 87, including Peruvian anchovies. It has been certified sustainable by the marine conservation organisation, Friend of the Sea.
Each softgel provides 180mg of EPA and 120mg of DHA, totalling 3000mg of fish oil when 3 softgels are taken. The fish oils are tested free from heavy metals. The softgel itself is made from vegetable glycerin.
